Frequently Asked Questions
Are you open?
Yes! As of June 22, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy has declared that tattoo and piercing studios may reopen with new safety measures in place to protect staff and visitors alike. Appointment, face mask, and health screening required.
How much do you charge for a tattoo?
The starting price for small tattoos is $60 (black only, color may be more depending on size). Larger pieces run $100/hr. (including time spent prepping your artwork and stencil) and we offer price breaks for longer sessions and tap-out days. Please stop in or call to arrange a consultation for a precise quote. We can only give a precise quote when we see your artwork, size, and placement.
Note: Payment is due at the time of service. If you choose to book an appointment, but have no plans to pay for the artist's time, be aware that you are effectively arranging for that artist to lose money. Please be considerate and keep this in mind when reserving time that could otherwise go to serious clients.
How much do you charge for a piercing?
Piercing prices start at $40, and piercing jewelry is included. Please stop in or call the shop for a quote and to schedule an appointment.
What are your hours?
Hourglass Tatz is open Monday - Saturday, from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm, and by appointment on Sundays.
How old do I have to be to get a tattoo or piercing?
You must be 18 years of age to get a tattoo or piercing. For clients under 18, a parent or guardian's consent is required with signature and photo ID.
Can I get there using public transit?
Yes. We are in walking distance (about six blocks) of the Lindenwold PATCO station. You can also take NJ Transit bus 406.
Do you have free parking?
Yes. There is a parking lot behind the shop. Kindly park along the fence on the far side of the lot; the spaces right along the back of the building are reserved for residents living on the second floor. If you choose to park in a resident's space, be prepared to have someone tell you to move your car at any time (and we'll support them in doing so). No exceptions. This is the landlord's rule, not ours, so thanks in advance.
Do you teach apprentices?
Yes, and the apprentice program is currently full. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the shop and make an appointment to discuss specifics. We do not share any other details before meeting in person. Thanks for understanding.
Does your apprentice program cost money? Why?
Yes, the apprentice program costs money. No exceptions. This program is not free for the same reason that it's not free for a person to earn the credentials to become, say, a yoga instructor or a dental hygienist or a mechanic. This is an industry-standard certificate program taught by serious, professional artists and guest teachers; we do not accept casual drop-ins or bad attitudes. Interested applicants should contact the shop and make an appointment to discuss specific details. We do not share any other details before meeting in person. Thanks for understanding.
